Micro-Needling

What is Micro-needling?

Not ready for injectables but would like a skin-lift? Microneedling (also called Skin Needling) may be a good choice for you.

During micro-needling micro-injuries are created in the epidermis. As a result, this signals the body to produce collagen and elastin to remodel the damaged area.

This has a rejuvenating effect on your skin, making it look younger and brighter. This self-repairing property of the skin is a 100% natural form of renewal from the inside out. Not only does Microneedling stimulate cell regeneration, it also allows the penetration of active ingredients deep into the skin during the treatment.

The Benefits

  • Safe for all skin types
  • Advanced treatment for acne scars with proven results
  • Minimal downtime
  • Works well in conjunction with other skin rejuvenation treatments

  • Provides a better and safer result than the derma roller

What happens during a treatment?

To begin with, your aesthetic therapist will complete a full consultation form with you and

explain the risks and benefits before we gain your consent.

Then your therapist will apply a topical anaesthetic treatment cream to the area being treated. This numbs the skin to ensure you will be comfortable during the treatment. Once the skin is numb your therapist will gently guide the Microneedling pen over your skin to lightly puncture the epidermal layers of the skin. This will create minute subcutaneous injuries.

These microscopic wounds close within 3-5 minutes, enough to stimulate new collagen deposition which may last for up to a year. You may experience slight discomfort around the sensitive areas of your face such as around your eyes. Your therapist will work with you to ensure any discomfort you feel is minimal.

Once the Microneedling has been completed a cooling mask that has been specifically designed to be used for this treatment is applied to your skin. This has a lovely cooling effect, accelerates collagen production and heals the skin. You can then lie back and relax under red and blue LED Light Therapy to enhance the skin healing properties.

How will my skin look after the treatment?

After the procedure your skin will be red and there may be some slight swelling which is comparable to mild sunburn. The redness and swelling will begin to subside 24/48 hrs. After the treatment.

By day three the skin will take on a healthy pink colour. During the first 3 days you will also experience some skin tightness, dryness and mild sensitivity to the touch. This diminishes greatly following the treatment. Your aesthetic therapist will recommend skincare to calm and soothe your skin and enhance results. Sunblock is essential post treatment.

How long after the treatment can I apply make-up?

You can return to your regular make-up routine from 12- 24 hrs post-treatment. Suitable Mineral make-up such as Eminence Organics Sun Defence Minerals is ideal for the first 2-3 days post-treatment.

You must continue to use a high factor sunscreen and any topical products specifically recommended by your therapist.
